TRIBALNEED
Riccardo Moretti is an experienced professional
musician who regularly performs both in clubs
and festivals in Europe and internationally. He
moved from Italy to South Africa several years
ago blending his own sound with new and
stimulating musical influences that enriched his
already multi-layered performance.
With his experimental combination of Synths,
Didjeridoo, Percussion, Beatboxing and a looper,
Riccardo Moretti's solo project 'TribalNeed' is at
the forefront of progressive musicianship. Sharp
melodies, melancholic sounds and ancient rhythms tell the story of the 'Electro Nomad' and his journey between the European Electro scene
and Afro/Australian tribal grooves. This mix of
organic instruments and circuit bent toys manifests an original approach to electronic music.
Being almost completely improvised the
performance has a loose timeframe and requires
a very limited space, thus it is flexible and
adaptable to the nature of each event.
JAMIE JUPITER
Singer-songwriter Jamie Jupiter draws on a wide variety of cultures and musical influences. His original and heart-warming songs touch hearts while his accomplished musical skills create a variety of moods and grooves.
He plays an impressive array of musical instruments from the bluesy combo of guitar and harmonica to a long unpronounceable list of African instruments.
The funky fusion of this rootsy mixture creates a deliciously spicy sound. A tasty African uplifting “Bob-Dylan” Jamie’s raunchy harmonica playing has been known to make women blush while the deep heartfelt poetry of his songs have drawn tears from burley men!
Recently Jamie and the cast of Angels On Horseback won a Fleur du Cap award For best cabaret 2009.
Jamie is also an ex-member of Cape Town glam-rockers The Honeymoon Suites who achieved cult status in the nineties as an enigmatic art band sensation. In addition to this he has done stints with Kolo Novo, Lemmy "Special" Mabaso, Drum Cafe Joburg, Mikanic, The Rudementals and fronts the groovy Afro-blues-dub outfit Mother City Mojo.
Jamie has also traveled widely as a member of The African Music Workshop Ensemble. He has been to London, toured the USA and Canada, Reunion island and Germany performing in Vincent Mantsoe’s award winning dance piece Men Jaro. Jamie played numerous indigenous South African instruments for the show.
His songs Mama Yea!, The Blue, Jellyfish and Give it Up have enjoyed national radio play.
A true Gemini he can call himself an entertainer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, cabaret artist, music facilitator, lounge lizard, troubadour, conceptual artist, ethnofreak, bluesman and soundsmith in the same breath.
He has recently been known to utilize live loops onstage which allows him to layer his songs with a multitude of instruments and sounds.
