The binding force that brings this band of four highly imaginative and proficient musicians together is respect. Respecting the music and sharing a love for some of the most invigorating improvisational sounds in Jazz over the last 60 years. Drawing inspiration from the searching spirit in Jazz, and its ability to tap into the more complex realms of human experience, the subconscious, perhaps mystical world. This desire to look into the depth of shared musical experience leads us to investigate the improvisational practices of Indian Classical music, which has had an extensive history with spirituality in music. With great faith, love and a willing audience, the performance occasion can bring our minds together to test the depth of ecstasy in music and leave the room charged with exhilaration, respect and love for all life.
PLAN BE - A SOUL HOUSING PROJECT
Plan Be is a young, vibrant band from Cape Town which offers the sounds of ‘groove’ in a variety of styles: hip-hop, deep- soul, house, dub, drum & bass and jazz, but with elements that are also distinctly Southern African. Dubbed ‘A Soul Housing Project’ because it provides the much needed sanctuary for one’s insatiable appetite for good music, Plan Be is indeed a home of music for the soul that offers healing to; be it a lost, broken, joyful, creative, enlightened or playful soul, who experiences the music. PLAN BE is all about the love for music, rich harmony, soothing melodies and enlightening lyric.
The band was jointly formed in 2007 by Bokani Dyer and Sakhile Moleshe during their studies at the University of Cape Town’s South African College of music – a breeding ground for some of South Africa’s best musicians to date.
Plan Be is a five piece band playing only original compositions jointly written by Sakhile Moleshe and Bokani Dyer. Since the bands inception in 2007, the band has built up a sizable following of supporters who enjoy the Plan Be experience.
TRIBALNEED
Riccardo Moretti is an experienced professional
musician who regularly performs both in clubs
and festivals in Europe and internationally. He
moved from Italy to South Africa several years
ago blending his own sound with new and
stimulating musical influences that enriched his
already multi-layered performance.
With his experimental combination of Synths,
Didjeridoo, Percussion, Beatboxing and a looper,
Riccardo Moretti's solo project 'TribalNeed' is at
the forefront of progressive musicianship. Sharp
melodies, melancholic sounds and ancient rhythms tell the story of the 'Electro Nomad' and his journey between the European Electro scene
and Afro/Australian tribal grooves. This mix of
organic instruments and circuit bent toys manifests an original approach to electronic music.
Being almost completely improvised the
performance has a loose timeframe and requires
a very limited space, thus it is flexible and
adaptable to the nature of each event.
